Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has congratulated her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on his victory in the Lok Sabha Elections this year for the third consecutive year.
She took to social media to congratulate the leader and pledged of working together to “strengthen the friendship that unites” the two countries.
“Congratulations to @narendramodi on the new electoral victory and my warmest wishes for good work. Certain that we will continue to work together to strengthen the friendship that unites Italy and India and consolidate cooperation on the various issues that bind us, for the well-being of our nations and our people,” Melani said on X.
In response, PM Modi extended his thanks to Meloni and said that his government is committed to deepening strategic partnership between India and Italy.
“Thank you for your kind wishes PM @GiorgiaMeloni. We remain committed to deepening India-Italy strategic partnership which is underpinned by shared values and interests. Looking forward to working together for global good,” Modi tweeted.
The BJP-led NDA government settled with 292 seats, of which BJP secured 240 seats. Whereas the opposition INDIA Bloc finished with 233 seats, while the Congress won 99.
The share of votes the ruling alliance managed this year stood at 46 percent – much lesser as opposed to 2019 when it won over 50 percent. With its downfall, the NDA is facing a reduced vote share in 2024.
