Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni welcomed the world leaders with a ‘namaste’ – an Indian way of greeting with folded hands at the ongoing G7 Summit. The event is being held in the city of Apulia in southern Italy from June 13 to 15.
Photos and videos of such a gesture of Meloni for welcoming delegates from around the globe is going viral on social media platforms and winning hearts of netizens.
The 50th Summit will witness discussions on a wide range of topics, including the Russia-Ukraine war and the Israel-Hamas conflict.
Additionally, Artificial Intelligence (AI), climate change, global challenges, Africa, and the Mediterranean are also the subjects of discussions.
US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida were present on the first day of the summit along with Giorgia Meloni.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who reached Italy on Thursday night, will also exchange dialogues with his Italian counterpart.
Besides the participation of Modi in the G7 outreach session on Friday, leaders of Algeria, Argentina, Brazil, Egypt, Kenya, Mauritania, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Tunisia, and Turkey will also attend the session.
