The Trinamool Congress will begin its mega rally – ‘Jana Garjan’ - and is expected to announce the names of 42 party candidates today in the next few hours. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee will take the centre stage as prime speakers to launch its Lok Sabha election campaign for this year with the mega rally.
People belonging to various communities and from across the state including Malda, Asansol, Durgapur, Sealdah, Howrah, Hazra and multiple districts have begun thronging at Kolkata’s famed Brigade Parade Grounds to take part in the mega march. Food and accommodation facilities have been arranged for all the participants.
“We are organising a rally at Brigade Parade Grounds after a long time. It is going to be a historic event. Our party supremo Mamata Banerjee will give a message which we will take to every nook and corner of West Bengal and ensure the defeat of the BJP in all the 42 Lok Sabha seats of the state,” said Trinamool Congress leader Firhad Hakim.
The party’s mega march features three platforms and ramps to enhance engagement, connect with the grassroots, and facilitate close interaction between leaders and supporters during speeches. The rally’s theme is centred around the alleged withholding of the state"s financial dues by the central government. A TMC source predicted a gathering of nearly 10 lakh supporters and several block-level leaders from multiple districts who will join the rally.
