Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was given insulin at Tihar Jail after his sugar level increased to 320 on Monday night, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) sources said. The ideal sugar level should be between 70-100.
The incident developed after Kejriwal, who is a Type-2 diabetic patient, alleged that the Tihar Jail administration is failing to provide him insulin despite repeated requests. Even several AAP leaders also accused the administration to ignore Kejriwal’s health condition and alleged a conspiracy to harm him.
Contradicting Kejriwal allegation, the Tihar Jail administration claimed that neither the discussion on insulin nor its requirement was raised during a video consultation with health experts from AIIMS.
Further confirming the development, a Tihar Jail source said that two units of insulin was given to Kejriwal yesterday evening after consulting a doctor from AIIMS who recommended to provide insulin if absolutely necessary.
The AAP supremo was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21 in connection to the liquor scam case. His judicial custody has now been extended by Delhi court till May 7.
