The celebration of India’s 75th Republic Day grand parade has begun in Delhi’s Kartavya Path on Friday after unfurling the tricolour by President Droupadi Murmu and national anthem amid tight security across the city. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is present and French President Emmanuel Macron is the chief guest for this year’s mega event.
The theme of this year’s Republic Day is ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Bharat: Loktantra ki Matruka’, implying the significance to embrace and uphold democracy.
For the first time, this year’s parade aims to bring into prominence women power, as it heralds by 100 women who will be seen playing various musical instruments in the tableaux. The parade is also showcasing significant contributions made by women and veterans in various sectors in nation building.
The commemoration of 75th Republic Day marks the adoption of India’s Constitution on January 26, 1950 and attainment of sovereignty and world’s largest democracy.
