Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Kargil War Memorial in Ladakh’s Drass area on July 26 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Kargil Vijay Diwas, an official said.

Lt Governor Brig (Retd) B D Mishra, on Sunday, held a meeting at secretariat and reviewed arrangements for the Prime Minister’s visit.

“The Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) held a meeting at the Lieutenant Governor"s Secretariat to discuss the arrangements for Hon"ble Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi’s visit to the Kargil War Memorial Drass,” Office of the Lt. Governor, Ladakh shared the news on X.

The esteemed celebration will mark ‘Rajat Jyanti’ of India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1999 and are scheduled to be held at Drass in Kargil district from July 24 to 26.

LG Mishra also asked all the concerned authorities to complete all necessary arrangements on time, adding that he would visit the Memorial at Drass on July 24 to inspect the arrangements.

“The HLG inquired from the GOC of 8 Mountain Division about the arrangements for PM"s reception at Drass Brigade Helipad. He directed concerned officers to complete all necessary arrangements in a timely manner,” the statement said.

Major Gen Malik said that the prime minister would land at Drass Brigade Helipad on Friday morning (July 26) and be warmly welcomed by the army personnel. He added that PM Modi would participate in the wreath-laying ceremony and later visit to the ‘Shaheed Marg’ (Wall of Fame).

PM Modi last visited Kargil in 2022 and celebrated Diwali with the army officers. He also laid a wreath at the Kargil War Memorial and paid his respect to the army personnel who lost their lives in the war.
