Mihir Shah, the prime accused in the hit-and-run crash case, and two of his friends reportedly consumed 12 large pegs of whiskey at Vice-Global Tapas Bar in Mumbai’s Juhu on the day his BMW crashed a scooter, killing 45-year-old Kaveri Nakhwa and injuring her husband, excise officials said.
They added that the bill showed three of them drank 12 large pegs of whiskey — four large pegs each — at the bar before the tragic incident – good enough to keep a person intoxicated for up to eight hours.
Mihir, 24, and his friends left the bar at 1:30 am and the mishap happened between 5-5:30 am on July 7 – within four hours of intoxication, excise sources said.
The excise department officials had also suspended the license of the bar in Juhu that served hard liquor to Mihir who is not even 25 years, which is the legal age for drinking. Officials alleged that there were other irregularities attached with the bar listed as Don Giovanni Restaurant, Jobel Hospitalities Pvt Ltd, including selling liquor to non-drinking permit holders in non-permitted areas.
