The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in all the districts of North and South Bengal in the first week of July. Fishermen have also been prohibited from going to the sea for the time being.
The Alipore Meteorological Department said that there will be mainly partly cloudy sky in South Bengal including Kolkata on Monday and Tuesday. Occasional rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm is possible in all the districts of South Bengal, which will intensify from Wednesday.
Additionally, heavy rain is forecast in North and South 24 Parganas and Nadia on Wednesday and Thursday, while moderate to heavy downpours is expected in all districts of South Bengal till Friday.
Meanwhile, a fresh alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall has been issued for all the districts of North Bengal as well. The weather body has also informed about a cyclone formation over Assam, Jharkhand, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh.
