The chief priest Acharya Satyendra Das of Ayodhya’s Ram Temple said on Monday that water was leaking from the sanctum sanctorum of the temple after heavy showers on Saturday midnight since it was opened to public.
The priest alleged negligence in the construction of the temple, saying that no proper arrangement was made for constructing the drainage of rainwater at the temple premises following heavy downpours. He also urged the temple authorities to take necessary measures to address the concern.
Soon after the development, chairman of the temple construction committee, Nripendra Mishra, reached the site and instructed to repair the roof and make it waterproof, temple trust sources said.
“It is very surprising that engineers from all over the country are building the Ram temple. The temple was inaugurated on January 22. But, no one knew that if it rains, the roof would leak. It is surprising that the roof of a world-famous temple is leaking. Why did this happen? "Such an incident is happening in the presence of such big engineers, which is very wrong,” said Acharya Satyendra Das.
Severe rainfall on Saturday also waterlogged multiple areas, including Rampath road and its adjoining regions, entering many houses and partially damaging newly constructed roads in Ayodhya.
