Political strategist-turned-activist Prashant Kishor announced on Sunday that his Jan Suraaj will be launched on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on October 2.
Jan Suraaj, which started as a campaign in Bihar, will now be registered as a political party.

“As stated earlier, Jan Suraaj will become a political party on October 2 and contest next year’s assembly polls. Other details, such as party leadership, will be decided in due course,” said Kishor, who launched the campaign two years ago.

The foundation stone will be laid on the same day and the party would start functioning with over one lakh people as its office bearers. Kishor also said that he would not lead the upcoming party and that leaders would be elected from among the party members.

He also said that Jan Suraaj will work as an independent party in the Bihar Assembly Elections in 2025 and exuded confidence of the party’s win in the same.

The election strategist also said that the functionaries would work towards ensuring a better future for the next generation from Bihar so that they do not have to step outside the state for education, job opportunities and healthcare facilities.   

Prashant Kishor has worked as a poll strategist for prominent politicians including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Meanwhile, Kishore welcomed Jagriti Thakur, daughter of Virendra Nath Thakur, younger son of the Bharat Ratna awardee socialist leader.

Others who joined Jan Suraaj included former RJD MLC Rambali Singh Chandravanshi, who was recently disqualified from the legislative council on grounds of indiscipline, and Anand Mishra, a former IPS officer.
