The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday filed a chargesheet against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and others in Delhi"s Rouse Avenue Court in connection with the now scrapped excise policy case.
This development comes days after the Rouse Avenue Court extended Kejriwal"s judicial custody in the case till August 8. The court has also extended judicial custody of of AAP leader Manish Sisodia and BRS leader K Kavitha in connection with a money laundering case allegedly related to the liquor policy scam.
The Supreme Court granted Kejriwal an interim bail, but he still has to stay in Tihar Jail as the CBI had arrested him in the money laundering case registered by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The probe agency also charged Kejriwal as “one of the primary conspirators” in the case and alleged that Vijay Nair, ex-media in-charge of AAP, and a close aide of Kejriwal was in close contact with several liquor producers and traders.
“Arvind Kejriwal is part of the conspiracy in the liquor scam. All Delhi government decisions were taken only as per his directions,” the CBI previously told the court.
In addition, the ED had also alleged that Kejriwal also met his lawyers to send instructions to the ministers of the Delhi government.
Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 in connection with the liquor policy case. However, he was granted bail by the trial court in the money laundering case on June 20. But the trial court’s order was stayed by the high court.
