Filmmaker Aishwariya Rajinikanth and actor Dhanush have filed for a divorce at the Chennai family court recently, two years after announcing their separation.
Sources close to the couple informed that they have filed the petition under Section 13 B by mutual consent. The duo has been living separately since January 2022, which came as a shock to many.
Their cases will be heard soon. Soon after their decision to part ways, Dhanush shared a note on X, “18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well wishers to each other. The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting and adapting. Today we stand at a place where our paths separate.
Aishwaryaa and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better. Please do Respect our decision and give us the needed privacy to deal with this. Om Namashivaaya! Spread love, D.” Aishwariya also shared the same note on Instagram with a caption, “No caption needed.”
Aishwariya and Dhanush got married in 2004 and are parents of two sons - Yatra and Linga – who were born in 2006 and 2010 respectively.
