Scorching heat still prevails in Kolkata, here’s what weather office says about possible rains

Although the monsoon season has already arrived, south Bengal residents are still reeling under uncomfortable humid weather conditions. Kolkata dwellers too are no exception as they too are bearing the brunt of scorching heat. Amid such a situation, there is a concern regarding the arrival of rains in full scale.

According to the meteorological department, moderate rains are forecast in Kolkata and South Bengal in the next 24 hours. Heavy rains are expected in East and West Midnapore and South 24 Parganas today. Bankura, Purulia, West Midnapore and Burdwan are likely to receive moderate to heavy rains for the next one week. Additionally, rains will intensify in the coastal districts from today. Meanwhile, scattered rains are also expected in the capital city today.

On the other hand, the early arrival of monsoons in North Bengal this year drenched  many areas and villages in the sub-Himalayan region of India. Rainfall will also increase in North Bengal. Landslide and flood warnings have also been issued by the weather department.
