Vladimir Putin continues to dominate political landscape as he took oath as the Russian President for another six years at Grand Kremlin Palace on Tuesday.
Putin placed his hands on the Russian constitution and vowed to stand strong and overcome all obstacles together at the oath-taking ceremony. “We are a united and great people and together we will overcome all obstacles, realise all our plans, together we will win,” Putin said after swearing-in.
Ever since Putin succeeded President Boris Yeltsin in 1999, the former has transformed Russia from a country with economic deficiencies to a nation that now threatens global security. His reign consolidated further following the invasion of Ukraine in February in 2022, making it Europe’s biggest conflict since World War 2, that was heavily sanctioned by some western countries.
Following his remarkable comeback, the big question remains as to what the 71-year-old Putin plans to do next in his tenure of six years both at home and overseas. The Russian leader made his first debut in the presidential post in March 2000 and a second term in 2004.
